On Thursday the official presentation of the 72nd edition of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana took place at Veles e Vents building in Valencia. Along the presentation, the director of the VCV, Ángel Casero, presented the details of the first major event on the international cycling calendar. 

During the presentation Ángel Casero highlighted the evolution and growth that has been experienced by the event since its return in 2016 to the cycling calendar. “The event has established and acquired great international prestige. The best teams and important international cyclists are keen on coming to the Valencian Community». 

For this year’s edition the organisation will face new challenges due to the current COVID pandemic. During the presentation the director of the VCV explained that new rules and security protocols will be implemented for the event, all this to ensure that it can be held without any problems. 

Additionally, Ángel Casero wanted to make a special mention by thanking everyone who is involved in this event, as without the support of everyone it would not be possible to organise the VCV. The director mentioned especially the significant importance of the support of the main sponsor Banc Sabadell, sponsoring VCV since 2016 and without them this event would not have been recuperated. 

Additionally, special mentioning was directed to the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation, a new collaborator joining the 72nd edition of the VCV. Casero expressed that “ the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation has always shown unquestionable support for sports through their multiple initiatives in Valencia, to which the VCV is now joining». 

During the speech the director expressed his sincere gratitude to all the companies that collaborate with his organisation. Additionally, Casero highlighted the fundamental role of the Guardia Civil during this event, as well as all the other forces of order, like the local police in the towns where VCV takes place or passes by. 

During the event the third edition of the VCV Féminas was also presented. Additionally a general message was sent for all the cycling fans wanting to follow these competitions this year. Due to the current pandemic situation and for security reasons the organisation has asked cycling fans and the general public to follow the races from a distance and not in person. 

During the presentation, Elena Tejedor, director of the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation, dedicated a speech for the VCV 2021.”We are delighted to be present for the first time in the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana”.”It is an event that projects the image and great aspects of the Valencian Community at a national and international level, passing through the three provinces and by this way enhancing in transforming the autonomous Valencian Community into Community of Sports (Comunitat de l’Esports)”, indicated Elena Tejedor. 

The director of the FTA highlighted ”the fact that this event takes place, contributes to show that our territory can be a safe destination for large scale sporting events”. ”I also want to highlight and thank the courage and determination of the director of the Volta, Ángel Casero and his team. From the beginning they transmitted us their clear ideas and enthusiasm, huge desire and ambition to carry out the event despite the current circumstances” concluded Elena Tejedor. Additionally, Jaime Matas, Deputy General Manager at Banco Sabadell, the main sponsor of the VCV 2021, expressed that they hope to “continue for many more years with the 

VCV”. “Each year the event organisation gets stronger and the fact that we love cycling, that’s why we are here,» said Matas. 

Regards the atypical aspect of this edition, the Deputy General Manager of Banc Sabadell stressed that“ we need to assume more responsibility and start doing things that allow us to feel some normality again. If the event can be organised in safely manner, why not do it?”
