Global Omnium’s GO2 is the new VCV Sustainability Partner
Global Omnium’s consultancy GO2, specialized in strategic consulting, will measure and certify the carbon footprint of the next edition of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana, from February 5 to 9, 2025.
Valencia. September 25th, 2024. The VCV – Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana has signed an agreement with Global Omnium as Sustainability Partner. Through this alliance, both parties will continue to make the VCV an increasingly environmentally friendly race. As a first step resulting from this agreement, the VCV 2025 will calculate and certify its carbon footprint, as they did in 2023, with the commitment to reduce its emissions and environmental impact for future editions.
The calculation of the carbon footprint of the VCV 2025 will focus on a multitude of areas related to the integral celebration of the event. Such as the previous activities necessary for the organization of the event, advertising elements and publicity campaigns; travel and accommodation of all participants; assembly and disassembly of facilities; essential services, such as security forces, private security, medical services, volunteers and waste collection; as well as the impact of actions with sponsors and sponsors.
The measurement of the carbon footprint of the VCV 2025 will be the culmination of a comprehensive sustainability plan for which the organization of the event will have the support and advice of GO2 of Global Omnium, an international benchmark in terms of sustainability in sporting events. The VCV will act as a loudspeaker for these initiatives, many of which have already been carried out since the event was recovered in 2016. Such as the use of hybrid vehicles for the displacement of the members of the organization (2017), the elimination of the use of plastic bottles (2022) or the recycling of the advertising banners of the race that are used throughout the year.
“Cycling and sustainability must go hand in hand and that is something that we are very clear in the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana from day one. It is very important for us to sign an agreement like this, with an entity of the stature of Global Omnium, which will allow us to further deepen our commitment to sustainability,” said the director of the VCV, Angel Casero, during the signing ceremony of the agreement that took place this Wednesday at the headquarters of Global Omnium.
“From Global Omnium we see this collaboration with the VCV as an opportunity to strengthen our commitment to the reversal of the impacts of events through the positive impact on the environment, with our orchard and sustainable agriculture, as we do with the hortiGO2 project, which has certified for the first time worldwide the absorption capacity of the Valencian orchard in the compensation of an event.”
