Valencia. December 20, 2024.
The VCV – Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana Gran Premi Banc Sabadell 2025 will visit Alpuente for the first time in its history. The town of Los Serranos will host the finish line of stage 3, which will be held on February 7, 2025, and will start from a town directly affected by the DANA to be announced shortly. The City Council of Alpuente and the organization of the Valencian cycling round have been working for months on the route of the stage, which will feature a climb to Puerto El Remedio, a few kilometers before reaching the town in the province of Valencia, and which will surely decide the winner at the finish line.
“For us it is very significant that our neighbors and especially the children and youth of our municipality can enjoy an event of these characteristics in their immediate environment. In addition, we have interesting assets to host sports activities in our town, such as: our environment, our climate, and of course, the quality of our air. We are also convinced that the rest of the citizens will enjoy our rich cultural, natural and paleontological heritage”, said Itziar Méndez, Mayoress of Alpuente.
“For the VCV – Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana is fortunate to be able to finish one of our 2025 stages in Alpuente. One of our objectives as an organization is to bring our race to every corner of the Comunitat Valenciana. Therefore, arriving to a town that has never hosted a stage is something special for us. We want that Friday, February 7, all the neighbors of Alpuente, but also the rest of the localities of the region of Los Serranos and surroundings, enjoy live the best professional cycling in the world. All eyes of the international sport will be on Alpuente that day, so we will try to give the greatest possible show for the fans,” said Angel Casero, General Director of the VCV.
After commemorating its 75th anniversary in 2024, the VCV – Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana now faces a 76th edition very marked by the recent tragedy of the DANA. The two regular stages in the province of Valencia will cross the areas affected by the floods, in an attempt not only to make visible what happened, but also to offer those affected a small and temporary escape valve for the delicate situation they are still going through today. So far, there are already several World Teams that have confirmed their presence in the VCV 2025, such as Movistar Team or UAE Emirates Team, so the cycling show will be again guaranteed in this 76th edition of the Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana.
