The 7th edition of the VCV Féminas GP Tuawa has crowned a new champion. Linda Zanetti (Uno-X Mobility) claimed victory in a sprint finish at Marina de Valencia, clearly defeating Jelena Erić (Movistar Team), who finished second, and Daria Pikulik (Human Powered Health), third.
The 104 km race between Alfafar and Valencia remained controlled for most of the course, with several breakaway attempts that failed to establish. The peloton neutralized all attacks, especially in the wind-exposed area before El Perelló, where the sprinters’ teams ensured a compact finish.
The final sprint unfolded in the last meters at Plaza del Agua, where Zanetti displayed her power to cross the finish line first. With this victory, the Swiss cyclist etches her name into the race’s history, joining the list of past champions. Today’s edition also marked the first time the event was held as part of the UCI ProSeries.
Before the race started, an emotional tribute was held in Alfafar, one of the municipalities most affected by the DANA storm on October 29. Authorities in attendance included Davinia Bono (Generalitat Valenciana), Luis Cervera (Director General of Sports), Juan Ramón Adsuara (Mayor of Alfafar), and Silvia Tirado (Director of VCV Féminas), along with representatives from security and emergency services. Additionally, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, President of the Spanish Sports Council, took part in the awards ceremony.
The day concluded with the #YoSíQueVoy challenge, an initiative promoted by Tuawa and the race organizers, bringing together hundreds of women on the podium alongside the winners, setting a new milestone in women’s cycling history.
In the special classifications, Heidi Franz (Cynisca Cycling) won the Intermediate Sprints prize, while Cynisca Cycling was recognized as the best team of the day. Additionally, Maryoli Sosa (UPV Women’s Cycling) was the best Valencian cyclist in the race.
Linda Zanetti (UXM): “It’s nice to start the season with a win”
After crossing the finish line, the rider was overjoyed and highlighted the great work of her team throughout the day. “I’m very happy. We had a plan, and we executed it very well,” said Zanetti, emphasizing the importance of teamwork in the final kilometers. “We stayed together in the last kilometers. We are a very united team,” she added, praising the strong coordination within her squad.
For Zanetti, this victory marks a perfect start to the season: “I think it’s nice to start the season winning.” With this win, the UXM rider positions herself as one of the key names to watch in the 2025 women’s cycling calendar
