In the 75th edition of the VCV Teulada Moraira, the town had the privilege of being one of the starting points for a stage. The warmth of the local and international fans transformed the sign-in into a spectacle of close interaction between the professionals and the supporters. American McNulty was the first to crest the Alto del Miserat, securing the Yellow Jersey for the VCV, which he won the following day. Moraira Castle was the setting for the presentation of the teams for the 2019 Vuelta a España.

On the roads of Teulada Moraira, it’s common to see top World Tour teams during preseason training. This attracts numerous European squads who take advantage of the logistical services available for cyclists. One of the must-see spots is the “Las Cumbres del Sol” route, which both the VCV and the Vuelta a España have used in their stages.
Tourism and related services are the cornerstone of Teulada Moraira’s economy. The stunning coastline, with its unique beaches and coves, combined with the local initiative to welcome international tourists, has transformed visitors into permanent residents.
The two towns are envisioned as a “City of Culture and Sculpture” with a program of monumental art within the urban landscape. The spectacular Moraira Auditorium, an architectural masterpiece that has won prestigious awards, will host the ALMA 2026 International Congress of Monumental Sculpture in October. The architectural heritage is further enriched by the Church of Santa Catalina, Moraira Castle, the Cap d’Or Tower, and the Hermitage of Sant Vicent Ferrer.
The port of Moraira is a hub for nautical sports, hosting major regattas such as the 300 Miles a Dos, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and the traditional Gourmet Race. It also hosts open water swimming competitions. Among the individual athletes, footballer Marcos Blasco stands out, having been signed by the University of Vermont.
Rice dishes, fish, seafood, and salted fish are the traditional staples of the local cuisine, which has also found its way into the finest restaurants. Mistela, a fortified wine made from Muscat grapes, is another local specialty. “Puchero de pulpo” (octopus stew) is one of the typical dishes of the Marina Alta region.
