On two occasions the VCV has visited Oropesa del Mar, all in recent times. In 2016, the first edition organized by Ángel Casero and his team, the town of Castellón was the finish of the first stage, seeing Wout Poels win, who would not let go of the yellow jersey until Valencia. In 2018, Oropesa del Mar started stage 1, with victory for Danny Van Poppel.

Oropesa del Mar has a multitude of cycling routes and a great love for the sport of two wheels. Its main exponent is the route of the Via Verde del Mar, which with a length of 5.7 kilometers runs along the old railway line that ran along the coastline, you can also taste breads and pastries made in a traditional way, as well as typical sausages such as black pudding or new elaborations such as sobrassada and sausage seasoned with truffle.

Oropesa del Mar is an eminently touristic municipality. In the summer months, its population reaches 80,000 inhabitants. It has twelve kilometers of coastline with 7 beaches and coves of different types and for all tastes.

Oropesa del Mar has established itself as a tourist destination that combines beach, nature and culture. Among its many attractions, include the Torre del Rey, the Castle of Oropesa del Mar or the towers of Colomera and Corda.

Oropesa del Mar is a reference municipality at regional level in the celebration of events associated with sports tourism. This is the case of different events such as the Oceanman Costa Azahar, the Mediterranean Epic MTB UCI Stages as well as sailing regattas and other types of sporting events that expose all participants to the natural resources of our municipality.

Oropesa del Mar’s gastronomy is based on the sea and the orchard with traditional dishes with modern touches, without forgetting a more international cuisine. The town has more than 150 restaurants and bars where you can taste from tasty stews and fish to a wide variety of tapas.
