The tarpaulins used during the event become new products thanks to ‘A La Lona de Valencia’, an association dedicated to the social and labour integration of people with mental health problems, which transforms them into bags, backpacks, wallets and other everyday objects.

Since 2022 we have found an alternative to bottled water with the help of TUAWA, the consumption of filtered water in glass bottles. Thanks to this initiative, we have saved the planet more than 75,000 plastic bottles and avoided almost 20 tonnes of CO2 in the atmosphere in the last 3 years.

In 2017 we pioneered the use of sustainable cars at an international event. Today, all the vehicles used at the event by the organisers are powered by Hyundai’s ECO technology.

Since 2023, in October, the VCV organisers, in collaboration with Tuawa, have been holding ‘Pedal for the Planet’, an awareness-raising event prior to the race to encourage Valencians to use bicycles as a sustainable and healthy means of transport.

Since 2016, the organisation of the VCV has been trying to trace routes that cross areas affected by forest fires in order to raise awareness of the importance of fire prevention and reforestation. As well as making publications on social networks of the same.

Since our beginnings, we have been committed to local suppliers and to supporting the economy of our community, thus reducing carbon emissions and waste production by avoiding long journeys of products. In 2024 we committed ourselves with the help of GOBIK to promote more sustainable fashion. For years now, all event jerseys have been made from at least 60% recycled materials. The garments have fibres made from recycled plastic bottles or surplus from previous productions. In addition, consistent packaging is used which minimises the labelling of our garments and includes only the essential product information.

The VCV – Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana 2023 officially certified, thanks to Global Omnium and for the first time in the field of international cycling, its carbon footprint with AENOR, according to the international standard ISO14064. In 2025, thanks to our agreement with GO.2 by Global Omnium, we will re-measure and certify the carbon footprint of the VCV 2025, with the aim of gradually reducing it in future editions.
