In the VCV

San Vicente del Raspeig hosted the VCV for the first time in 1977, with a stage 3 victory for Txomin Perurena. The following day saw the start of stage 4, which ended with a victory for Félix Suárez in Xàtiva. In 2003 it saw the start of the race with an individual time trial won by the Italian Dario Frigo in the rain.

Cycling

Since the beginning of the 21st century, San Vicente del Raspeig has had the best BMX circuit, a sport that was Olympic in Beijing 2008. Alejandro Martínez Chorro, bronze medallist at the World Track Cycling Championships in 2022 and silver medallist at the European Championships in 2023, is also a native of San Vicente del Raspeig.

Economy

The economy of San Vicente del Raspeig has a strong industrial component thanks to the various industrial estates that are distributed throughout the city. It is also a large population centre in the metropolitan area of Alicante.

Culture

In the municipality of San Vicente del Raspeig is located the Campus of the University of Alicante since 1979. It also has outstanding archaeological sites such as La Loma de la Panxeta and a wide range of museums, libraries and music conservatories.

Sport

The Jove Español football team is the most important sports club in the town. In addition, hockey has been present in San Vicent del Raspeig for many years, and today there are many who continue to play it.

Gastronomy

San Vicent del Raspeig has a wide variety of typical dishes, which is one of the main attractions of the town. Rice dishes, ‘putxeros’, tapas and a wide range of delicious pastries make up its extensive gastronomic offer.
