At the VCV

The town of Alpuente premieres as the venue for one of the stages of the VCV – Volta a la Comunitat Valenciana. In fact, the cycling caravan of the VCV has not even passed through the town in any of its routes since it returned to the calendar in 2016 by the hand of Ángel Casero.

Cycling

Mountain bike lovers can enjoy the BTT center Los Serranos. The star itinerary is the Route of the Villages, about 45 km long and linking the Villa de Alpuente with the populated villages and some small unpopulated villages such as El Chopo, Cañada Seca, Vizcota, Benacatácera or La Hortichuela.

Economy

The inhabitants of the locality live mainly from agriculture and livestock. Agriculture is centered on vines, almond trees and cereals; and the predominant livestock is sheep, pigs, bees, poultry and rabbits. Tourism has recently revitalized sectors such as services and commerce in the town.

Culture

There are abundant samples of ancient settlement of this territory, from the Bronze Age, from the Iberian period; but it was in the Muslim period when Alpuente acquired a great relevance, where it came to mint its own currency. In addition, Alpuente houses one of the best dinosaur collections in the Valencian Community. It has its own museum, where pieces of more than 145 million years old are exhibited, among them, part of the skeleton of a sauropod and bones of stegosaurs. It also has two deposits of herbivorous and carnivorous dinosaur ichnites.

Sport

In Alpuente, you can enjoy an ideal environment to practice sports in contact with nature: horseback riding, mountaineering, climbing, cycling, hiking, etc …. You can discover numerous routes with the natural charm offered by the environment: springs, forests, gorges, rivers, etc…

Gastronomy

The gastronomy of Alpuente is typical of the region. Among the specialties include: sausages and meats from the daggerboard, the village pot, gazpachos, porridge, migas, stew, stew, and different lamb stews. In the area an excellent wine is produced in a winery that is committed to organic farming and biodynamic culture. You can also taste breads and pastries made in an artisanal way, as well as typical sausages such as black pudding or new products such as sobrassada and salami seasoned with truffle.
